Tavor Center is a place for special people residing in a special country, overcoming a difficult for the nation time, a territorial invasion by the russian aggressor. Tavor Center remains one of a few places lovingly supporting individuals with learning and physical difficulties. By participating in the Center’ daily socialization and skills-building programs, Tavor visitors get a chance to heal and momentarily forget about the dangers of the war and implications of air raid alarms.

The Center is run by Ms. Nadiia Chorna, a passionate educator with a kind and devout heart. Nadiia does amazing work at the Tavor Center, actively supporting members of the community and the displaced-by-war Ukrainian children.

Q: What kind of activities are carried out at the Tavor Center and what needs do you currently have with the backdrop of russia’s war raging in Ukraine?

Nadiia: At the Tavor Center we develop inclusion programs for adults and kids with mental and physical disabilities. We focus on skills development and building of interpersonal abilities. Our participants learn to work with wood, clay, paraffin, beads and are taught embroidery, weaving, drawing, applique; they also work with computers. We focus on communication and confidence-building games, conversations, recitals, performances, pilgrimages and worship. Walks and sports are also part of their daily routine.

In this video, Tavor Centre visitors remind everyone that the rights of people with special needs are important, with members reciting: "We are people with special needs. We are needed by society to make it better. We have a right to privacy, healthcare, freedom and self-realisation. We not only have rights, but also have equally important responsibilities to contribute to our society. Everyone has the right to happiness. Protect your rights.”
